Why WHI?

  • Our mission is a good one…we fight injustice, poverty, hunger and suffering through innovative, sustainable programs that attack the roots of these problems and create positive, lasting results.
  • Our work is efficient…WHI is rated a 4-star charity by Charity Navigator, and we’re certified by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. 85% of our gifts go directly to our programs.*
  • We collaborate in the field…WHI has vibrant, ongoing relationships with NGO’s such as Salvation Army, World Relief, International Justice Mission and many more like-minded organizations worldwide.
  • Our programs build up, train and equip indigenous leadership. This leads to unique indigenous solutions for unique indigenous problems.
  • Our core values—transformation, empowerment, sustainability, excellence and collaboration—speak to our desire to see real, lasting change in the world. As long as there are people in need, we want to restore, uplift, heal, bless, love, protect, mentor, serve and help people so that God may be glorified.
  • Though we are motivated by our faith, we do not hold that as leverage against people or withhold aid on a religious basis. We strive to emulate Christ who humbly served others regardless of their status.
  • Though we regularly provide relief when needed, we are focused more on development, because we are interested in seeing lasting, transformational, sustainable change in individuals and communities. Rather than telling people what to do or how to change, we actively engage our participants, encouraging them to partner with us to determine the best path of success for their unique situation.
