The beauty of this work is that anyone can participate and make an impact on real people’s lives. Whether you are an 8th grader struggling with pre-algebra, a senator, or anyone else in between; you can do something eternally significant with your time on this earth through WHI.
As far as ways to help us out, the sky is the limit. We want to encourage all sorts of creative ways to help us raise funds, awareness and more prayer for the people we are helping. Here are a few ideas, let us know if you think of more good ones.
- Have a get-together with friends and share WHI’s vision. If you are passionate about a country we serve in, have a cultural night relating to that country. Cook up some delicious Malawian food or have people over to watch Sri Lanka play cricket…
- Organize a fundraiser amongst your classmates (or co-workers, or group members…)
- Put on an event to raise awareness (pass out water with world water stats, have a concert, bike across Michigan etc.)
- Unload that personal gym you never use, have a yard sale
- “Donate” your facebook/other social networking status to say something flattering about us (World Hope International is the cat’s pajamas, etc.)
- Start a prayer group
- Tell your friends about our work
- Volunteer your time and skills–any help with writing, photography, video, techy stuff or other office-work things are always extremely helpful
- Spread the word through art–music, painting, drama etc.
- Challenge your teammates to get involved
- Contact us with your ideas!
Ideas for Churches
We encourage your church to get personally involved with our work. Here are a few easy ways:
- Support community-wide development through the Community Orphan Trust program. Your church family can connect and partner with a community in Zambia or Mozambique. Drill wells, support children, increase livelihood and have a direct impact on real lives.
- Provide clean water by helping us drill fresh-water wells.
- Identify an area your church is passionate about (anti-trafficking, rural development, microfinance, education, HIV/AIDS etc.) and WHI can help connect you to a project that may be a good fit.
- Identify a specific country your church body is passionate about helping.
- Start a prayer team at your church that regularly connects with WHI staff so we can pray together.
