Cambodia

Since 2005, WHI’s Cambodia Assessment Center (AC) has been a safe haven for female victims of rape or commercial sexual exploitation. More than 400 young girls and women have found refuge at the AC, where they are given medical attention, counseling, job training and a safe place to heal physically, mentally and spiritually.

The AC is on the front lines in the fight against the despicable Cambodian sex trade, which exploits girls young enough to be in 1st or 2nd grade. The AC also works with like-minded organizations, local law enforcement and government officials to raise awareness in communities, to prosecute violators and attack the roots of human trafficking in Cambodia.

The AC continues to protect women and children in Cambodia, and actively seeks to end to all forms of sexual exploitation and abuse.

WHI opened a second Assessment Center in a different region of Cambodia in April 2010.
