Zambia–HFC

The HIV/AIDS epidemic has left nearly 800,000 children orphaned in Zambia. Widespread poverty continues to hinder progress and development.

One of the most unfortunate consequences of poverty is that education is often forced to the back burner.  The sad reality is that even young children are needed around the house in order to make ends meet. Kids who have to fetch water, work in the fields, cook, clean and look after siblings can only dream of going to school.

This is especially true in Zambia, where there is limited access to free education. Schools fees, uniforms, books and other school supplies are just too much for many Zambians to afford.

That’s where we step in.

Your sponsorship here will provide a good education for a child, supplement their family’s food supply and cover basic medical expenses such as bednets to prevent malaria–one of Zambia’s leading killers.

Most of the children we are helping here are very vulnerable–many have been orphaned or abandoned or come from families that are the poorest of the poor.
