Reach 4 Life

By now you’ve heard about the spread of HIV/AIDS and the ongoing, tragic humanitarian crisis that continues to unfold in Africa. You’ve probably heard some of the statistics…

In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, 22 million are infected with the disease, while more than 11 million children have been orphaned due to the disease. Millions more are infected every year. It all sounds so overwhelming…

Numbers alone cannot do justice to the devastation HIV/AIDS has caused. The disease is destroying individuals, families and entire communities. The young people of Africa have bore the brunt of the suffering, but they are also the ones with the best chance of stopping the spread.

Reach 4 Life (R4L)

R4L, made possible by WHI supporters and the International Bible Society, is an engaging, youth-friendly Bible-based course that promotes purity and provides insight on how to make healthy life decisions. R4L is a powerful weapon in the fight against HIV/AIDS because it educates, equips and prepares young people to pursue God and personal purity.

R4L speaks to young people in their language and provides Biblical responses to modern-day challenges like peer pressure, poverty, drugs and relationships. The program is presented in schools throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, reaching the most important audience in the world’s fight against HIV/AIDS.

In just over two years of operation, R4L has presented the program to more than 71,000 students. In that same span, R4L staff have seen 14,919 young people make commitments to personal purity, and more than 15,000 make commitments to follow Christ.

Needless to say, the response to the program has been huge from students, teachers, pastors and families alike. We need to rally more support for R4L so we can expand the program and help more vulnerable children around the world reach for something better.
